Feb New Balance

Right around $7200.00. I don’t have the exact amount because the interest charge hasn’t been added in yet.
I’ll have to see if Feb is included in the contempt process or if that will at some point count as the first count in the next one.
8 months since a payment has been made!

Contempt Hearing Friday

So today there were 73 cases in the one courtroom. They all dealt with  contempt at some level.
There were about 20 no shows, and a lot of continuances. It’s really frustrating to watch those that are required morally and legally to pay for their child support have an extra 3 months to wiggle [...]

Contempt of court - OC

Few observations about the court hearing I attended today.

·         Overwhelmingly the people that were being held accountable for not paying child support were men.
·         There were huge amounts of arrears – I think 180k was the highest amount I heard.  Because it was an arrears only case, he was ordered to do a job seek [...]

A new month

I have great hope that a child support payment will actually be made this month.  The consequences of not making the payment could be somewhat harsh and it would make sense to at least try to make a payment before the court date.  I have little hope of a payment being made before Christmas, but [...]

Hearing today

Well today was interesting. Ted didn’t show up for the modification review. The judge ordered an increase in child support. I’m actually very pleased with the amount. It more than doubled, and was made retroactive to August.
Getting the child support paid is another story - although because this is the third time [...]

California Assembly Bill 2440

This became effective earlier this year (2007)
Child Support (AB 2440)
This bill improves child support collections and helps curtail the underground economy by making liable any person or business entity that knowingly assists a child support obligor in evading his or her responsibility for three times the value of the assistance provided, up to the total [...]

Turning in a deadbeat~

So it’s interesting what I can see on the “backend” of my blog.  I can see search terms used to get here, links,  etc.  So the search terms “should I turn in a deadbeat I know” caught my eye and made me think about it.
I’m wondering how someone casually knows someone is a  deadbeat.   [...]

what I feel like some days

There are always questions

Earlier this week, my daughter turned four - with all the little girl joy that is possible. I enjoy watching her at play - everything is so all or nothing with her.
There’s a Volvo commercial with a little girl that doesn’t stop talking as her dad goes to the driver’s side of the car [...]
