Call local child support services. Compile all information of non
payment and send it in. The D.A. will open the case if the information is complete and concise. They will then proceed with placing leans on any properties he owns, contact irs for non payment so if he is to recieve a tax refund you will get it first etc. It worked for me and my ex owes me 180 grand

I stumbled upon your blog and love it. I've been battling for child support for 7 years now and have been in court 27 times. That's nuts!! Contempt is a word I know well and I've seen my ex get locked up 3x in the past two years. It's a never ending chase and when I finally get a dribble of child support it's time to start the chase again. Such a great way to waste my time.....

I wish you the best!!!

To the thousands of mothers out there who suffer and whose children suffer from lack of support, this is what you to get the support you need. When fathers understand that they will go to prison or pay, most will pay. You can bet your boots that when this guy gets out, he will never miss another payment.

My ex husband has not made a payment since February of 2007. The judge believed him when he lied about working. His court order support is a measly 440 per month for our 3 children.

He is currently in arrears of almost 30,000. I support my kids all by myself and have since 2002 when I left him. He works under the table by installing garage doors. He has had his license revoked for non-payment but continues to drive. I would like to see him pay consequences for non-payment and would also like to see some money.

This at least makes me feel like I am not in this alone .. But the outstanidng arrears in m case is 50, 000 and counting with a very same situation .
I am employed . by the state, have to take basically a day off work to sit there while the other parent no shows ands I am still waiting to actually talk to the DA rep. Carless, college support less for my daughter ... so what is actually being done about cases like this , and what actually does CONTEMPT do for collecting.

I don't think there is unfairness in the amount they have to pay - in our scenario it's based on minimum wage. It's right around 300 a month for child support, and and 200 for child care costs. My actual child care costs are well over 700 a month. In Orange County California, a 2 bedroom apt/condo is going to be at least 1550 and a 3 bedroom house runs 2550 for rent. 300 a month doesn't go very far here. See an early article form our local paper that indicates it's a minimum of 750 dollars per month - outside of child care and any activities that a child participates in - so no, there is no empathy in the amount he has to pay. It's a little stronger than apathy that he doesn't.

It is not the fact that they have to pay child support that deserves empathy, it is the unfairness in the amount they are required to pay. Many jduges are required to disregard the financial obligations the noncustodial parents and so the burden is quite onerous. the issue of non payors deserves no sympathy because once they get a order to pay if they can't pay then there are mechanisms in place to have the amount reduced (although at times impossible). if they can pay but just won't, then they derserve apathy.

Well, here I am on the other coast, different state, same quest for child support. I, too, am chronicling my saga out of frustration and hoping that others may be able to learn, maybe someone in the system will be so amazed by the inadequacies of the state enforcement/collection system that something will be done for all of us who wait, count pennies and go without.
